Meet the new X2-30

Posted by admin on Mar 17, 2015 4:39:31 PM

The world of IT kit changes at one hell of a rate. The first iPhone was launched in 2007 - do you recall the scepticism that greeted the launch? Why would you need a phone to do anything other than make calls? Less than a decade later, now we know. In the same year we bought our first eye tracker: it cost £20,000 and came in a huge suitcase sized flight case. Our latest eye tracker, a Tobii X2-30, cost a fraction of that price and you can put it in your pocket!

While the new eye tracker is not as radically different from the old one as the iPhone was from a Nokia (remember them?), the fact you can just plug it into the USB port of any laptop means it is much more versatile, particularly when in remote non-lab based locations. It can also be used on a wide range of devices from smartphones to large PC screens and, as it has even larger head movement tolerance than other eye trackers, testers can move freely and naturally in research sessions.

Clearly, as a specialist UX organisation, we have to stay up-to-date with the kit we use and, all in all, we rather like this new toy.
